Born in Cuba in 1959, he attended art classes during Middle and High School and studied drafing in College. Coming to the United States in 1986, he lived in Miami and San Francisco, and has been a resident of Reno, Nevada, since 2002. After a recent trip to Hong Kong, Mr. Almeyda felt compelled to pick up the brush again to paint subject matter relating to line and form, with heavy architectural influences. Also bright colors are evident in each painting reflecting his years living in Cuba. The 2008 collection of works are acrylics on canvas in addition to watercolor on paper.
